What’s in new issue of Point Spread Weekly

By Steve Makinen
Point Spread Weekly editor

Our cover story is Super Bowl LIII, and the topic is Prop Culture, as Dave Tuley dedicates his Takes feature this week to what he looks for in props. Keep in mind, though, that while he introduces the topic this week, our expert staff will be offering some picks and analysis for more specific prop wagering opportunities in next week’s issue. Also covering the SB LIII action is Matt Youmans, who shares the thoughts of many key people in the Las Vegas sports betting industry regarding the point spread of the game and what it means to them. He also offers up an interesting take on what he thinks caused the extreme early line move on the game.

Basketball covers the majority of this week’s PSW pages, however, and I may be using the term majority more lightly than I should, as my own piece on NBA Home & Road-Court Performance takes up 17 pages itself. With a weekend off until the Super Bowl, I thought it would be a good time to produce what I call a “reference library” of material that readers can utilize for the rest of the season in the NBA. For each team I give a detailed breakdown on many various performance trends at home and on the road for the last two seasons. With the trends grouped by line ranges, opponent strengths, type of game, and more, it should be relatively easy for bettors to get a good feel of the situations in which teams thrive or struggle both at home and on the road.
