What You Need to Know for CFB Saturday Week 11

‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Six is the Magic Number

Six wins. College football teams need to hit that magic number in order to be considered for a bowl game. There are 42 bowl games plus the National Championship Game. That means that there are spots for 84 teams. Conference tie-ins could leave some teams with six wins out or cause some teams with five wins to get in. We’ll have to wait and see how it all plays out, but teams that don’t have College Football Playoff or conference championship aspirations just try to get to six wins.

There are only three weeks left in the regular season for 126 teams. USC and Cal play a rescheduled game on Dec. 4 and Army/Navy is the standalone game for Dec. 11. That means that the teams that have fewer than six wins have a lot to play for this week and next.

The teams with five wins entering play on Saturday: East Carolina, Memphis, Syracuse, Boston College, Miami (FL), North Carolina, Texas Tech, Maryland, Western Kentucky, FAU, Charlotte, Army, Miami (OH), Kent State, Toledo, Ball State, San Jose State, Washington State, Oregon State, UCLA, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Troy, South Alabama

A bowl berth is a big deal. It is a chance to play on national TV and the time when a lot of scouts are paying close attention. You don’t want to automatically bet a team with five wins expecting bowl eligibility this weekend, but just keep in mind that it will be a big motivating factor.
