Wilson, Wentz Trades Alter NFL Odds, Team Outlooks
The NFL world was still buzzing from the Russell Wilson trade between the Seahawks and Broncos when it was announced on Wednesday that the Colts had traded Carson Wentz to the Washington Commanders. Indianapolis picked up draft picks and salary cap space. The Commanders got their new Commander-in-Chief on offense.
Former NFL GM Michael Lombardi has a new weekly feature at VSiN. This week’s debut article looked at the Russell Wilson trade for both the Broncos and the Seahawks. READ MORE

Burke’s Betting Blurbs
College Basketball Rematches for Today
Readers got an inadvertent test to see whether or not they were paying attention to Wednesday’s Betting Blurb when I mistakenly said that Illinois had not made the NCAA Tournament since 2013. The Illini were, of course, a No. 1 seed last year that lost to the criminally under-seeded Loyola Chicago Ramblers in the Round of 32. Many people pointed out my mistake and I appreciate them for it. The one thing you learn immediately in this business is that nobody’s perfect, despite their best efforts to be.
It’s a new day and we move on to a couple of rematches on the docket for Thursday that I like based on what happened in the first two games. This is a valuable handicapping skill in conference tournaments and one that helped with Marshall/FIU under on Tuesday. Hopefully we get more of the same today.
TCU vs. Texas (-5.5, 125.5): An early tip to kick off the Big 12 Tournament features TCU and Texas. This feels like a pretty cut and dry handicap to me. TCU is 331st in the nation in TO% on offense. Texas is 15th in the nation in TO% on defense. The Longhorns won by 23 and by 9 in the two regular season meetings with 13 takeaways in the first game and 17 in the second game. Texas’s nine-point win featured a 1-of-14 performance from 3. Even with that, the Longhorns had 1.172 points per possession, which was their second-highest output in a conference game. Their fourth-highest was the other game against TCU. I don’t trust Texas in the NCAA Tournament, but this should be a good matchup for them again.
Quinnipiac (-1.5, 140) vs. Siena: I’m wary of going against line moves in small conferences, but I don’t understand this one. Quinnipiac had an out-of-body experience from 3 in the 77-52 win on Tuesday, going 17-of-35 while Marist went 2-of-17. Neither of those things should be repeated here, as the Bobcats moved from PK to -1.5 against the Saints.
In the two regular season games, Siena won 85-76 and 78-71, so they were fairly close, but Siena had 1.155 and 1.240 points per possession in the two games. Those were two of the team’s three highest outputs of the season. Also, these two games flew over this total, even though one was played to 63 possessions (very slow for both teams) and the other to 74 possessions (Quinnipiac’s more preferred pace). These are two solid FT shooting teams as well. I like Siena getting points and also the over, so we’ll see if this handicap plays out as it should.

Today’s Big Sports Betting Stories
BIG DANCE HOPEFULS GO DOWN; AAC, MAC START TODAY
There were some noteworthy upsets in the early rounds of Wednesday’s conference tournament action. The Wake Forest Demon Deacons, projected as one of the "Last Four Byes", lost in the second round of the ACC Tournament to Boston College, putting them firmly on the bubble. Xavier will also be doing a lot of hoping and praying from now until Sunday after losing to Butler in overtime. The Musketeers were projected as one of the "Last Four In".
Colgate punched a ticket to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Patriot League. The nation’s No. 2 3-point shooting team is projected to be a 15 seed. No conference tournament champs will be crowned today.
Sixteen conference tournaments have started over the last two days and two more start today. It’s the most wonderful time of the year for college basketball fans and bettors. Adam Burke touched on the AAC Tournament HERE and the MAC HERE.
