NFL QB Moves Continue with Matt Ryan to Colts

Another team with a need at QB has filled it, as the Indianapolis Colts traded for Matt Ryan from the Atlanta Falcons. The cost to acquire Ryan was just a third-round pick and should be an upgrade from Carson Wentz.

We were able to get instant reactions from some of our NFL experts on air:

Tuesday College Basketball Thoughts
After a dirty beat with UNC Asheville, who scored 84 points, but only two in the final 3:47 of the game, all I can do is climb back up on the horse I fell off of and see what’s in store for this evening. Here are my NIT and CBI thoughts for tonight:

St. Bonaventure vs. Virginia (-3.5, 125): The Bonnies play their third road game in the NIT here as they now appear in Charlottesville against Virginia. St. Bonaventure won by eight in Colorado and by two in Oklahoma, going 20-of-39 from 3 in the process. For a team that shot under 33% for the season until the NIT and made 22 combined 3s in their last five games prior to this point, you have to wonder if that luck runs out against Virginia’s pack line defense. Virginia isn’t a very good offensive team either and this game should be played to around 60 or so possessions. I think the total is a little bit high here and like the under.

Vanderbilt vs. Xavier (-3.5, 142.5): Credit to Xavier for stepping up after firing Travis Steele to beat Florida on Sunday. The Gators were 6-of-30 from 3 and Xavier’s two opponents are 7-of-42 now in the NIT. The Musketeers are now holding opponents under 32% from 3, while also shooting under 32% from 3 themselves. I slightly lean under here, but the tempo worries me, as Xavier has really sped up late in the season and Vanderbilt is pretty average.

UNC Wilmington vs. Northern Colorado: This is a really fascinating game. It’s the third game in three days for the two teams, with both coming off of notable comebacks on Monday. UNC Wilmington’s was much bigger, as the Seahawks trailed by 19 with under 10 minutes left and hit the game-winning bucket with four seconds left. That game was only played to 65 possessions and featured 151 points.

Northern Colorado and UNC Asheville combined for 171 points in a game played to 71 possessions. We probably don’t get much defense in this one either. Tired legs mean a lack of attention to detail on defense, which NoCo doesn’t play anyway. I’ll be looking to the over in the morning.

Middle Tennessee vs. Abilene Christian: MTSU was the only team that had Sunday off and won in the CBI on Monday. It will face an Abilene Christian team playing three games in three days. Both teams force a lot of turnovers, but Abilene Christian is No. 1 in the country in TO% on defense. Middle Tennessee’s TO% on offense is over 20%, and had 21 turnovers against a similar Stephen F. Austin team earlier this season, so I worry here. On the flip side, MTSU is a far better offensive and defensive team otherwise. They’re also a well-coached team. I think they get through here and get the win and cover when the line is posted. This is just the second game against a top-100 team since mid-January for Abilene Christian, so it’s a step up in class, especially with one win against a top-150 team since the end of 2021.

🚨 TODAY’S NBA FREE PICK LOVED BY NOT JUST ONE BUT BOTH OF OUR HOOPS EXPERTS. While the public (& Vegas) are entranced with CBB right now between the Big Dance and the NIT and the CBI and so on, there are opportunities to be had in the NBA. That’s just smart handicapping, but what’s really interesting about tonight is that both of our Hoops Experts – Ben Hayes and David Hess – really like the same bet in the NBA. I’m not going to tell you that its going to be a blowout or over before it started, its just that simply both of these experts really like the play and have 64% and 60% hoops records respectively.
